Update from Liz MacKinnon

Last winter the charity Human Appeal collected 1500 coats which were distributed to the homeless in the city of Manchester. This year, the charity launched its first “Wrap up Glasgow” appeal and called on people to donate warm winter coats for the city’s homeless.

Homelessness is rising across the UK, and the winter months can be some of the toughest for people in crisis. Donating a warm coat may not only help save a life, but give a homeless person some of the much needed kindness they deserve.

The people of Dunoon & Cowal were asked to support this charity via an advert in Weebay Dunoon, and the Forward Shop in Argyll Street agreed to be the drop off point for coats.

As expected, local people responded with their customary generosity and two large trolleys of coats have been delivered to Safestore in the South Side of Glasgow. The coats will now be sorted and redistributed to those in need around the city.

Many thanks to all who donated, and to the Forward Shop for acting as the drop off point.
